Australia’s Chief Scientist, Professor Alan Finkel and several members of his Expert Working Group, visited two APN nodes during the consultation phase last year to develop the national infrastructure roadmap.
On 7 July the EWG visited the new facilities of the Victorian Centre for Functional Genomics, led by A/Prof Kaylene Simpson, and 22 July the EWG visited the Australian Phenomics Facility at ANU, led by Prof Simon Foote. Both visits allowed us to describe the emerging need and national benefits around investment that supports the development of new therapeutic lead compounds, and the critical role played by the APN.
